Just another dying rose?

Yesterday I felt like I was falling from a ladder,
breaking all the rungs,
only to land on the ground
that would disintegrate beneath me at any moment,
I felt like I’d sink into the earth
and the soft damp soil would fill my lungs.

Thankfully, I am still on solid ground.
I don’t think how long I’ll survive it,
Even if I,
Will I find the strength to go back to the place where I was?

Or am I going to be a rose in the garden of your life,
To whom you loved once,
whose fragrance you can still remember,
But once fallen on the ground by flocks of second thoughts,
I’ll be lying on the ground to decay before being forgotten.

  1. The way this was written really tugged at my heart strings

‘I felt like I’d sink into the earth and the soft damp soil would fill my lungs’

It’s like being so broken that the only thing you can do is beg for air from the person or situation that has broken you, and because that favour is usually not returned, it starts to feel like the earth swallows you while you are still trying to take what should be given to you.

    Very nicely written 👌🏽
